Position Summary:

Western Digital is seeking a seasoned Senior Benefits Specialist to play a crucial role within the Benefits team, delivering outstanding employee benefits services. This position will report to the Director of Benefits and collaborate closely with People Operations, People Team Partners, Payroll, Legal, brokers, and vendors. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in benefits administration related to health and welfare plans, retirement programs, leave management, wellness initiatives, employee communication, governance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and execution of both US and International Benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement initiatives, leave management, wellness programs, employee communication, governance, and compliance.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and competitive benefits that align with the Company's objectives and budget while addressing employee needs. Leverage data-driven research and peer survey insights to analyze market trends and recommend enhancements to the employee experience.
  • Manage the leave of absence program and vendor relations, serving as a point of contact for leave vendors, managers, HR, Legal, and Payroll throughout the leave process. Collaborate with leave vendors and internal teams to streamline program operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to People Team Partners regarding escalated employee benefit inquiries across various plans and programs.
  • Support the vendor payment process, ensuring accuracy and timely payments through third-party billing providers.
  • Lead all aspects of annual U.S. benefit renewals and Open Enrollment, including design, planning, communication, and execution to ensure employee understanding and participation, with precise data transmission to brokers and vendors.
  • Administer retirement plans, including the Company's 401(k) and Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Plans, acting as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders, managing communication efforts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and facilitating timely contributions.
  • Assist with international benefit renewals as assigned, collaborating with local stakeholders to understand plan design trends and make informed recommendations while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Partner with the Director of Benefits to evaluate current business processes, propose enhancements, and implement procedures aimed at improving efficiency and the overall benefits delivery experience.
  • Ensure compliance with annual documentation, testing, and regulatory filings, including Section 125 testing, 5500 filings, ACA Filing, and more.
  • Support employee wellness programs and initiatives to enhance engagement and awareness of available offerings.
  • Act as backup support for the Global Benefits team and assist with special projects as necessary.
Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Health and Welfare benefits and Retirement plan administration and design for U.S. benefits. International experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of benefit compliance laws and regulations, with significant experience in Federal and State leave policies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for accurate follow-ups and information management.
  • High level of business acumen to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Workday HRIS systems is highly desirable.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a flexible environment with changing priorities.
  • This position offers remote work flexibility with the expectation of occasional work outside of standard hours.
