Electrical Solutions Designer

We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Solutions Designer to join our dynamic R&D Engineering team. In this role, you will have the freedom and flexibility to contribute as a key member of an innovative and entrepreneurial team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop designs and documentation for new and existing products by creating 3D models, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and other documentation to fully define product for manufacture and ensure specifications are met.
  • Research specifications and identify purchased components for use in designs.
  • Manage both small and some parts of large scale projects independently.
  • Direct and assist with the build of components and assemblies for prototypes and pilot builds.
  • Assist in the development of engineering, drafting and release standards.
  • Perform tolerance stack analysis of complex assemblies and drawings prior to release of documentation.
  • Participate in the product development process, including design brainstorming and voice of customer activity.
  • Initiate/prepare Engineering Change Order (ECO) documentation, including the development of BOM's.
  • Perform required calculations to ensure all dimensions, tolerances and other specifications are accurate as represented.

Requirements:

  • Two year technical degree preferably in drafting or design.
  • Ideally 3+ years of mechanical experience in drafting/design.
  • Experience using SolidWorks a must.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical or refrigeration for designing, assisting and directing the build of components and assemblies.
  • Experience with ENOVIA PLM system a bonus.
  • JD Edwards experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of brazing/welding of copper, stainless steel a plus.
  • Knowledge of tubing and manifold designs for fluids a bonus.
  • Knowledge of plastic part design beneficial.
