Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the assigned supervisor, the Facility Services Custodian is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of both indoor and outdoor areas of the facility. This role emphasizes delivering exceptional service to members and visitors while collaborating with all staff to foster a supportive and engaging atmosphere.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Ability to interact positively with individuals of diverse ages and abilities.
  3. Capable of working independently while adhering to detailed maintenance protocols.
  4. Experience in commercial cleaning is preferred.
  5. CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification required within 60 days of hire.
  6. Successful completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
  7. Completion of mandatory training sessions, including New Employee Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, and Sexual Harassment training upon hire and annually thereafter.
Essential Duties:
  1. Support the mission and vision of the YMCA.
  2. Foster a professional atmosphere by exemplifying the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  3. Lead initiatives that strengthen community foundations through programs focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  4. Assist in promoting YMCA membership through recruitment and retention efforts.
  5. Conduct thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and trash disposal, following a systematic cleaning checklist.
  6. Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs as directed.
  7. Maintain necessary records and documentation related to job performance.
  8. Engage in daily and project cleaning tasks as needed.
  9. Adhere to mandated reporting requirements for abuse.
  10. Participate in YMCA fundraising initiatives.
  11. Comply with departmental standards.
  12. Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
  13. Wear the designated staff uniform or professional attire as appropriate.
  14. Act as a leader during emergency situations and report incidents as per the Emergency Communication Action Plan.
  15. Ensure a safe environment for all members, guests, and program participants, adhering to the center's Emergency Operations Plan.
  16. Perform additional related duties as assigned to enhance member experience.

Skills and Abilities:
  1. Physical strength and agility to perform essential tasks.
  2. Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet using ladders and platforms.

  4. Capability to operate motorized equipment as necessary.
  5. Willingness to work in environments that may be dusty or dirty.
  6. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  7. Ability to perform maintenance tasks involving various physical activities.
