The Management Trainee Program is crafted to prepare aspiring managers with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in this role.

In the absence of the Store Manager, oversee all responsibilities and tasks of store associates. Assist effectively in managing all store operations to achieve financial and sales objectives. Foster strong relationships with both associates and customers while promoting a robust culture aligned with Hannaford's strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with store operations and merchandising practices.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and sales abilities.
  • Proven interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team.
  • Willingness to learn various tasks and technical requirements, including successful completion of forklift and power jack training, along with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly lift up to 20 lbs., including overhead lifting, and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
  • Meet established volume and activity standards.
  • Stand or walk for the entirety of the shift.
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, and lifting of individual stock items at various heights.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Ability to handle various substances related to cleaning, packaging, and food products.
  • Tolerate extreme temperatures for short durations.
  • Proficient in using computers, calculators, and communication systems necessary for job functions.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Support management in all aspects of Center Store operations as directed by the Center Store Manager.
  • Effectively lead all Center Store associates.
  • Exemplify outstanding customer service and utilize skills to provide solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Assist in driving sales through effective merchandising strategies.
  • Maintain efficient work schedules to meet production and customer service standards while accommodating associates' personal needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for associates as directed.
  • Stay informed of and adhere to all standard practices outlined in the Center Store Standard Practices Manual.
  • Ensure department conditions regarding appearance, quality, variety, safety, and food safety are consistently upheld at the highest standards.
  • Understand and utilize company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, productivity metrics, ordering, and business information systems.
  • Receive, store, process, and merchandise all products in line with established department guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, shrinkage, sales, and inventory.
  • Cut, mark, and stock products as necessary.
  • Assist in communicating department and company policies to associates.
  • Perform various departmental functions as needed to meet production and customer service standards.
  • Treat all store information as confidential.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
