The Management Trainee Program is structured to prepare aspiring managers with the essential skills and insights required for success in this role.

In the absence of the Store Manager, oversee all tasks and responsibilities of store associates. Assist effectively in managing all store operations to achieve financial and sales objectives. Foster strong relationships with both associates and customers while promoting a robust culture aligned with Hannaford's strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with store operations and merchandising practices.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and sales abilities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Willingness to learn various tasks and technical requirements, including successful completion of forklift and power jack training, along with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly lift up to 20 lbs., including overhead lifting, and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Consistently meet established volume and activity standards.
  • Stand or walk for the entirety of the shift.
  • Frequently reach, grasp, and lift individual stock items from below waist level or above shoulder level.
  • Engage in frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Handle various substances related to cleaning materials, packaging, and food products.
  • Tolerate extreme temperatures for short durations.
  • Utilize computers, calculators, and communication systems necessary for job functions.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Support the management of all aspects of Center Store operations as assigned by the Center Store Manager.
  • Effectively lead all Center Store associates.
  • Exemplify exceptional, friendly customer service and leverage skills to provide solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Contribute to sales growth through effective merchandising strategies.
  • Maintain efficient work schedules to meet production and customer service standards while accommodating associates' personal needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for associates as directed.
  • Stay informed about and adhere to all standard practices outlined in the Center Store Standard Practices Manual.
  • Ensure department conditions regarding appearance, quality, variety, safety, and food safety are consistently upheld.
  • Understand and utilize company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, productivity metrics, ordering, and business information systems.
  • Receive, store, process, and merchandise all products in line with established department guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of production, shrinkage, sales, and inventory.
  • Cut, mark, and stock products as needed.
  • Assist in communicating department and company policies to associates.
  • Perform various departmental functions as necessary to meet production and customer service objectives.
  • Treat all store information as confidential.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
