We are currently in search of a Unit Manager who is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care within a secure, institutional environment.

The Unit Manager is responsible for supervising the personnel assigned to the unit and managing the unit's program. This role involves acting as a liaison throughout the facility by participating in various administrative meetings, thereby connecting the unit to the overall facility operations. Additionally, this individual ensures that the unit is adequately staffed and oversees the effective utilization of manpower resources within the unit. They will also monitor and evaluate the unit's performance, focusing on addressing any identified deficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee the staff assigned to the unit, ensuring they perform their duties effectively and conducting evaluations as per facility and corporate policies.
  • Engage in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation processes for assigned staff.
  • Clearly communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountability to all direct reports to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Complete written performance evaluations for all staff under direct supervision; review and approve evaluations conducted by subordinate managers or supervisors in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Regularly review subordinate payroll records and manage the use of overtime.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a criminal justice field, including at least two years in a supervisory role or two years as a CoreCivic Case Manager or Correctional Counselor, is necessary.
  • Additional qualifying education may be considered in lieu of experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience on a "CoreCivic Way" unit management team, including time served as an acting Unit Manager, may substitute for the aforementioned qualifications.
  • Must possess knowledge of the principles and practices of correctional facility management, supervision, and training, as well as relevant corrections laws, rules, and regulations.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
