Job Overview

The Energy Efficiency Specialist is responsible for assessing residential properties to determine eligibility for Weatherization services. This role involves a comprehensive evaluation of various aspects of the home to enhance energy efficiency and ensure the health and safety of the occupants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting blower-door and pressure pan tests to evaluate air leakage.
  • Performing thorough inspections of ductwork to ensure optimal performance.
  • Executing worst-case draft tests on homes with draft appliances.
  • Inspecting and testing water heaters and furnaces for efficiency and safety.
  • Engaging in both office-based tasks and on-site visits to residences.

Office tasks include researching the history of home repairs, creating detailed scopes of work orders post-inspection, and managing other program documentation. On-site visits require manual inspections of crawl spaces and attics, and may involve performing insulation and air sealing tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Skilled in utilizing measuring and testing equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain auto insurance coverage.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain competency as an Energy Auditor through continued education and retesting.
  • Must obtain a 10 Hour OSHA Safety card.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Capable of creating and reviewing work scopes while identifying staffing and material requirements.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining tools and job sites.
  • Familiarity with NEAT/MHEA and WaWeb systems is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with homeowners and subcontractors.
  • Experience in the installation of attic insulation and air sealing is preferred.
