Program DetailsThe Camp Fire Afterschool (CFA) program offers a dynamic and enjoyable solution for families of children in K-5th grade, blending after-school care with enriching activities and social-emotional development. The program is filled with outdoor activities, engaging challenges, STEAM projects, games, and music, all aimed at helping youth discover their passions, enhance social skills, build community, and boost confidence. The program operates immediately after school at two different locations, with varying hours based on the site.
No School Day Camps (NSDC) transform days off into opportunities for creativity and enjoyment. Each themed day allows children to explore their interests and express themselves in a secure, supportive environment alongside peers. Programs run from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with optional extended care available until 5:15 PM.
Role ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a compassionate youth worker to contribute innovative ideas, supervise participants, and implement program activities within our CFA initiative. Key responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with youth and supporting their development
- Leading engaging activities and games
- Identifying and fostering social and emotional learning opportunities
- Collaborating with team members to enhance program quality
- Establishing and maintaining program routines to cultivate community
- Ensuring a safe physical and emotional environment for participants
- Advocating for program and participant needs to supervisors
This is a part-time position, with work expected Monday through Friday during afterschool hours. Staff are also required to participate in several No School Day Camps throughout the academic year, with specific dates agreed upon with the Program Manager.
QualificationsWe welcome applicants who may not meet all qualifications but possess relevant experience or a strong desire to learn. We encourage individuals passionate about youth development to apply.
- Experience working with elementary-aged youth or relevant educational background in youth development or related fields
- Knowledge of best practices in teaching, group management, activity planning, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed care
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain by start date)
- Commitment to fostering a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment
- Ability to establish developmental relationships with youth and staff
- Effective group management skills
- Strong verbal communication abilities with youth
Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $20.50 per hour, based on experience. Benefits include sick time, paid professional development opportunities, and complimentary programs for dependents.
