Position Overview

The Logistics Management Institute is seeking a DoD Logistician/Supply Chain Optimization Engineer to enhance supply and demand efficiency in support of weapon system sustainability. This role encompasses both physical and logical inventory management, including inventory control and counting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives focused on logistics planning, resource allocation, material management, supply chain sustainability, and procurement processes within federal organizations.
  • Manage a small team responsible for data collection, analysis, reporting, and technical support.
  • Conduct research on current and emerging trends in logistics and supply chain management to inform capability development.
  • Analyze diverse customer data to formulate strategies aimed at enhancing material and equipment readiness.
  • Utilize government and proprietary databases, modeling, simulation, and analytical tools for logistics data analysis.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of logistics and supply chain policies, procedures, and performance metrics, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Engage in tasks related to the development, operation, assessment, and enhancement of weapon systems supportability and maintainability programs.
  • Collaborate with logistics and maintenance control organizations on logistics support development, systems acquisition analysis, financial oversight, life cycle cost management, and standardization of weapon systems.
  • Possess a working knowledge of GFP Module processing and requirements.
  • Provide administrative and technical writing assistance.
  • Present briefings to senior leadership regarding strategies to enhance operational readiness.
  • Communicate program management insights through written reports, presentations, and oral briefings for government agency leadership.
  • Research relevant topics and prepare presentation materials for senior government officials.
  • Draft and finalize correspondence, including letters, memoranda, briefings, speeches, and reports.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics management, supply chain, aviation maintenance, or a related field, or 10 years of demonstrated experience in logistics and sustainment planning.
  • Experience in acquisition and procurement disciplines.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, curiosity, and the ability to effectively engage with clients at all levels.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing stress while adapting to dynamic work conditions.
  • Must be able to work remotely and be available for occasional travel.
  • Applicants must possess a current U.S. Government SECRET clearance or be eligible for one.
Desired:
  • Master's degree in logistics management, supply chain, or related fields, or 15 years of demonstrated experience in logistics and sustainment planning.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Government Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution process.
  • Knowledge of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter sustainment.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Risk Management.
  • Applicants currently holding or eligible for Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
