Key Responsibilities for Structural Welder Position at Tate Inc.

The Structural Welder performs critical tasks, including measurements, cutting, and assembly of metal manufacturing products. This encompasses selecting suitable materials, preparing metal surfaces, determining gas ratios, and inspecting weld strength during and after the welding process. The position also involves the construction of trusses for various applications, requiring collaboration with other manufacturing departments, quality control, and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Selects, measures, cuts, and assembles appropriate metals to specifications.
  • Prepares metals and work surfaces for safe assembly.
  • Interprets specifications and blueprints accurately.
  • Cleans and inspects welding equipment and tools regularly.
  • Determines correct gas ratios and tests join strength.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues as necessary.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or conditions.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Follows all relevant policies, procedures, and instructions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience, AWS Certification required.
  • 2+ years of structural welding experience.
  • Must have basic math skills and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and interpret instructions.
  • Computer literate and able to work in a team environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted and using various tools.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must handle machinery, equipment, or parts using hands and fingers.
