Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor community center programs, including after-school activities, leagues, summer gym schedule, open recreation, and rentals.
  • Oversee children, members, and visitors during activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Enforce rules and regulations as necessary, maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Assist in developing games and sports programs for children, leagues, and rentals.
  • Mediate disputes among participants, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Tutor children on their homework, providing academic support.
  • Clean and maintain the gymnasium and work/play areas before and after activities.
  • Assist in planning community center special events, promoting engagement and participation.
  • Maintain and organize all gymnasium supplies and equipment, ensuring proper use and care.
  • Train members and visitors in the care and use of games and equipment, promoting safety and responsibility.
  • Record and submit daily statistical reports, providing valuable insights and data.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines, upholding the organization's values and principles.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience with youth activities and community centers is desirable.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to read and write well.
  • Ability to relate well with youth and children, demonstrating patience and understanding.
  • Basic verbal communication skills with children and other employees.
  • Valid driver's license, including E license to transport children, is a plus.
  • Certification by the American Red Cross (ARC) in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid is required.
