Position Overview

The Clinical Donation Coordinator RN plays a crucial role in assessing and managing potential organ donors, ensuring compliance with ConnectLife's policies during the donation process.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve on a 24-hour call rotation as part of the organ procurement team.
  2. Assess referrals for organ donation potential in cases of imminent death.
  3. Oversee on-site activities related to donor management, authorization, and organ recovery at hospitals.
  4. Adhere to donor management protocols to optimize donor potential, collaborating with medical professionals as necessary.
  5. Educate hospital staff on the organ donation process to foster understanding and cooperation.
  6. Facilitate communication with potential donor families and assist in the authorization process.
  7. Ensure all medical and legal requirements are fulfilled prior to donor surgery.
  8. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ConnectLife policies throughout the organ recovery process.
  9. Keep accurate donor records to meet compliance requirements.
  10. Conduct follow-up on donor lab work and other necessary evaluations.
  11. Provide feedback to hospitals and donor families as needed.
  12. Engage in Hospital Development initiatives and Medical Record Reviews as required.
  13. Stay informed about advancements in organ donation and allocation practices.
  14. Maintain necessary certifications and education relevant to the role.

Qualifications

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and think critically to solve problems while maintaining a focus on customer service.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and data entry is required.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Results-driven and highly organized, with effective time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Possession of a valid NYS Driver's license and reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Local travel may be required.
