Job Title: Procurement Intern

Science Systems & Applications is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Intern to join our team. As a Procurement Intern, you will assist in the procurement process, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Subcontract Administration: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and administering subcontract agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Vendor Coordination: Communicate with subcontractors to ensure they understand contract terms and conditions, and monitor their performance to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of subcontract agreements, amendments, and related documents, and track key milestones, deadlines, and financial data associated with subcontracts.
  • Support Contract Negotiations: Assist senior analysts or managers in negotiations with subcontractors, including pricing, terms, and conditions, and prepare reports and summaries to aid in decision-making.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with subcontractors and propose mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with all required regulations.
  • Financial Analysis: Monitor and analyze subcontractor costs, ensuring budgets are adhered to, and assist in the preparation of financial reports related to subcontracts.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure all subcontracting activities comply with company policies and federal, state, and local laws, and participate in internal and external audits of subcontractor performance and compliance.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise between subcontractors and various departments within the organization, providing regular updates on subcontract status to management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with team members and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, use formulas, and perform data analysis
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling financial information
