Job Summary

The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Corporate Accounting Manager at Warren Henry Automotive Group. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records by computing, classifying, and recording numerical data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cash Management: Perform daily cash management and treasury-related functions by preparing and distributing cash reports to responsible parties.
  • General Ledger Posting: Post bank-related transactions to the general ledger on a daily basis.
  • Intercompany Accounts: Post intercompany accounts receivable incoming/outgoing wires, CAP payments against affiliate loans, and review outstanding checks on a monthly basis.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile assigned accounts on a monthly basis, prepare account reconciliations in Blackline by the 20th of the month, and communicate discrepancies with responsible parties.
  • Purchase Orders and Accounts Payable: Review and communicate open purchase orders and accounts payable aging schedules on a weekly basis.
  • Logistics and Record-Keeping: Log outgoing checks on a daily basis, distribute to responsible parties, record NSF checks, and follow up with managers to collect.
  • Bank Fees and Accruals: Record monthly bank fees by the 2nd of the month and review vendor accruals schedules to ensure accruals are reversed once invoices have been received and paid.
  • Manual Reconciliations and Credit Card Refunds: Perform month-end manual bank and intercompany reconciliations, communicate discrepancies with responsible parties, and process credit card refunds and voided transactions in the Cenpos platform.
  • Compliance and Support: Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations, provide coverage and/or assistance for other accounting staff when needed, and assist in preparation of documents requested for the fiscal year-end audit.
  • Special Projects: Support management with special projects and/or job-related functions as they may arise.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelors Degree (BA) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school.
  • Experience: Relevant experience as an Automotive Store Accounting Clerk for three to five years may be substituted for Associates degree requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, proper email and telephone etiquette, ability to work in team environments as well as independently, ability to multitask and be highly organized and flexible, ability to exhibit a cheerful demeanor toward others, professional personal appearance, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ADP/CDK Drive XL DMS.
