Business Unit Overview

The Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) division is rapidly expanding to meet the rising demand for EPC services in sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle infrastructure, synthetic materials, and data centers. M&T is committed to exceeding client expectations by leveraging our agility and cutting-edge technologies.

Position Overview

As a Survey Engineer/Party Chief (PC) within the Construction organization, you will provide essential field and office support to the construction survey team. Reporting directly to the Area Lead Surveyor (ALS), you will interpret design specifications to determine the placement of commodities and equipment, while supervising your assigned survey team in various installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical guidance to survey crews.
  • Assist Field Engineering and Field Supervision teams.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Accurately layout construction work and document field data as per specifications.
  • Lead a direct-hire survey crew as Party Chief.
  • Utilize advanced survey instruments, including Robotic Total Station and GNSS equipment.
  • Maintain and develop survey data.
  • Conduct Calibration Baseline checks on survey instruments.
  • Administer the survey work request program.
  • Perform and verify survey computations as necessary.
  • Provide Civil project completion documentation, including 'As-Built' records.
  • Oversee subcontract survey work verifications.
  • Support UAV/Drone operations and 3D Laser Scanning activities.
  • Train and mentor less experienced survey team members.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to live and work in the USA without sponsorship.
  • Engineering/Technical degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying, including 1 year in a supervisory role, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey with various installation layouts.
  • Understanding of engineering and construction methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel's Zero Incidents safety program and quality standards.
  • Proficient in construction survey principles and supervisory functions.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels, GNSS systems, and Access field software.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Physical capability to perform site walkdowns and lift up to 40lbs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Bechtel Survey Mega-Projects.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures.
  • Proficiency in 3D Survey CAD software.
  • Experience supporting UAV/Drone operations and Laser Scanning.
