Ophthalmic Care Specialist

Job Summary:
As an Ophthalmic Assistant at Dartmouth Health, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our ophthalmology clinic. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to assist with clinical duties, including monitoring patient arrivals, performing basic eye exams, and gathering patient health and eye history.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to interact with patients at all levels of care.
- Perform basic ophthalmic exams in preparation for next steps of care and collect accurate information into the patients' electronic medical record.
- Prepare patient, room, supplies, and equipment for exams and procedures, and maintain inventory, cleaning, care, and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
- Recognize and comply with all national, local, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Assist fellow staff and physicians with daily tasks and be willing to learn special testing and ancillary skills as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support certification required within 60 days.
