Job Summary:

As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, patients, and visitors. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and programs to enable compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EH&S regulatory requirements, as well as organizational EH&S and Workplace Safety (WPS) policies and standards. You will contribute to the success of EH&S programs through implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and enhancement. You will also contribute to employee safety and protection through independent implementation of EH&S programs and training efforts. You will ensure high-quality service by resolving standard issues and acting as a resource on EH&S and WPS matters. You will recognize and assess hazards and risks by developing and implementing best practices for identifying, analyzing, documenting, and communicating standard and nonstandard workplace environmental health and safety risk trends. You will prepare high-quality analysis and reports regarding the state of environmental health and safety. You will ensure risk control by interpreting general guidelines to promote workplace safety and compliance and evaluate the effectiveness of measures to improve workplace safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement EH&S programs and strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and standards.
  • Contribute to the success of EH&S programs through implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and enhancement.
  • Contribute to employee safety and protection through independent implementation of EH&S programs and training efforts.
  • Ensure high-quality service by resolving standard issues and acting as a resource on EH&S and WPS matters.
  • Recognize and assess hazards and risks by developing and implementing best practices for identifying, analyzing, documenting, and communicating standard and nonstandard workplace environmental health and safety risk trends.

  • Support training and continuous learning about EH&S by actively seeking training and development opportunities and integrating learning and feedback into daily work tasks and strategies.
  • Present safety education and training programs for management and staff.
  • Conduct competency assessments to measure and ensure training effectiveness.
  • Engage in safety practices by ensuring employee safety and protection through independent education and reporting of incidents.
  • Plan and schedule work related to Health and Safety programs independently.
  • Identify, speak up, and implement ways to address improvement opportunities for the team.
  • Support, identify, and monitor priorities, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Pursue effective relationships with others by proactively providing resources, information, advice, and expertise with coworkers and members.
  • Recognize and assess hazards and risks by developing and implementing best practices for identifying, analyzing, documenting, and communicating standard and nonstandard workplace environmental health and safety risk trends.
  • Contribute to risk control by implementing changes that promote workplace safety and compliance.
  • Pursue self-development and create plans to capitalize on strengths and develop weaknesses.
  • Contribute to high-quality service by responding to complaints and resolving standard and nonstandard issues.
  • Support and respond to the needs of others to support a business outcome.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Natural Science, Engineering, Emergency Management, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or directly related field.
  • Healthcare Environmental Manager Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Industrial Hygienist Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Safety Professional Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Health Safety Professional Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Associate Safety Professional Certification within 24 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or related certification.
