Job Title: Public Health Data Support

ORAU is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Public Health Data Support specialist. In this role, you will provide technical assistance in the development of Integrated Science Assessments (ISAs) on the human health and welfare effects of air pollution exposure.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct literature screening, data curation, and extraction to support the development of ISAs
  • Utilize software tools, such as SWIFT-ActiveScreener and Distiller, to streamline the screening process
  • Develop data visualizations to present health effects data, both spatially and quantitatively
  • Assist in the integration of tools and development of new tools to improve efficiency
  • Provide general project support, including documentation of methods and approaches, and coordination of activities for meetings and briefings
Requirements:
  • Research experience on a topic relevant to human health
  • Experience reading and summarizing scientific manuscripts related to human health
  • Experience in technical scientific writing and editing
  • Experience with scientific data in fields such as epidemiology, environmental science, toxicology, and chemistry
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, and SAS
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in handling multiple assignments with competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working well as a part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Location:

This position will be located at EPA's facility in Washington, DC.

Salary and Benefits:

The selected applicant will receive an hourly wage of $25.17 for hours worked.

Full-time position with occasional overnight travel required.

Expected start date: October 2024.
