Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Acoustics Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International plc. As a Subject Matter Expert in sound and vibration for HVAC equipment, you will play a critical role in providing technical support and expertise to our customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide sound and vibration technical support on various projects, including product development, sales, and field support.
  • Engage with customers and product teams to understand field noise requirements, local ordinances, and sound testing specifications.
  • Drive product development efforts toward lower noise solutions to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Perform site evaluations to document in-situ chiller sound performance and develop outdoor noise models.
  • Review patents and research papers to understand state-of-the-art noise control solutions.
  • Assist with testing efforts, including data analysis, generating reports, and communicating results to diverse audiences.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure best design practices are followed and alert product teams to any sound and vibration risks.
  • Develop equipment sound ratings for publication by Sales and Marketing.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts on existing products and test procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science.
  • 8-10 years' related experience.
  • Training in the field of acoustics and vibration or experience in HVAC design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in acoustics or degree with a focus in acoustics.
  • Consulting experience in acoustics or noise control.
  • Knowledge of municipal noise ordinances and regulations.
