Geotechnical Engineer Job Description

Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our Boise, ID team. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, investigation, and analysis of geotechnical engineering projects, including residential and commercial buildings, bridges, highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and levees/basins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects, resources, and staff while providing expert technical guidance in geotechnical engineering.
  • Perform geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for various projects.
  • Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, and geotechnical data interpretation.
  • Supervise and lead geotechnical support during construction of geotechnical elements.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel.
  • Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Idaho or ability to obtain.
  • Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Geotechnical background including fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.
  • Experience in construction oversight for foundation and pavement construction and earthwork observation.
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering software.
  • Familiarity with IBC and AASHTO standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
