Job Title: Fire Officer Paramedic

About the Role

The Fire Officer Paramedic is a critical member of our team, responsible for providing advanced life support and fire protection services to the citizens of Port Washington. As a Fire Officer, you will be responsible for supervising and performing firefighting activities, including fire containment and extinguishment, laying hose, conducting technical rescues, and operating power equipment.

As a Paramedic, you will provide advanced emergency medical care and transport patients to medical facilities. You will also be responsible for planning, scheduling, and participating in equipment and station maintenance, hands-on and classroom training, and other operational and administrative functions.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform firefighting activities, including fire containment and extinguishment, laying hose, conducting technical rescues, and operating power equipment.
  • Provide advanced emergency medical care and transport patients to medical facilities.
  • Plan, schedule, and participate in equipment and station maintenance, hands-on and classroom training, and other operational and administrative functions.
  • Serve as a mentor and evaluator during the orientation process for new full-time, part-time, and paid-on-call employees.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Fire Department's quality assurance program.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive and accurate records for patient care, fire incidents, and administrative functions.
Requirements
  • Wisconsin Driver's License
  • Wisconsin Firefighter II (or reciprocity with IFSAC or Pro-Board) certification
  • Wisconsin Fire Officer I (or reciprocity with IFSAC or Pro-Board) certification
  • Wisconsin Emergency Services Instructor I (or reciprocity with IFSAC or Pro-Board) certification
  • EMT-Paramedic (or reciprocity with NREMT) certification

The City of Port Washington offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $83,500 per year, based on 2,912 annual work hours. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System, comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid sick leave and vacation.
