Job Summary

The City of Clearwater, FL is seeking a skilled Marine Facility Operator to join our team. As a key member of our Marine and Aviation Department, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our municipal fuel docks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispense, deliver, and assist with marine fuels and lubricants to various watercraft, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.
  • Monitor all areas and ensure that all appropriate safety precautions are observed at the marina, pier, and surrounding areas.
  • Accept credit card sales, monitor sales, and maintain accurate accounting for daily revenues.
  • Prepare daily shift reports and records, receive, account for, and inventory fuel.
  • Monitor, watch, and evaluate docks, piers, and moored watercraft through periodic inspections, adjusting and re-positioning mooring lines as needed.
  • Enforce and verify fishing passes, pier rules, and marina rules, engaging with community members to answer questions and provide marine and fishing-related information.
  • Perform minor maintenance, custodial assignments, and other marine, pier, or dock-related tasks, making safety announcements to the public as needed.
  • Clean and maintain pier walkways and garbage cans, straighten, organize, and stock merchandise.
Requirements
  • A valid State driver's license is required.
  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D.
  • Certificate PLUS one (1) year of experience in boating, bait house operations, customer service, and/or related activities, including six (6) months of experience handling money and making change.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of general marine practices related to fueling and mooring vessels, shop and storekeeping, local and surrounding beach and geographic areas, and fishing practices and related regulations.
  • Skills in making repairs to fiberglass boats, handling money, making change, and handling payments, providing general information to boaters, pier customers, and tourists, creating clear and concise reports, establishing good relationships with patrons, event planners, and fellow staff, and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
