Job Summary

The Senior Sales Contracting & Closing Specialist plays a key role in driving business growth by overseeing the sales process, from customer acquisition to project completion. This position assumes a leadership role in creating new business partnerships and sales orders, ensuring timely project authorization and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement process-driven procedures to create new business partnerships and sales orders in SAP and ARM.
  • Monitor project progression, providing data analysis and performance reporting to drive sales growth.
  • Identify and implement business process and system improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and success.
  • Act as backup to the Sales Contracting & Closing Manager, assuming responsibilities when the manager is unavailable.
  • Provide training for Sales Contracting & Closing and Customer Acquisition teams as needed.
  • Lead the development of reports and new reports for Sales Operations related to Stage 5 and post-authorization of projects.
  • Manage New Business projects (BCAs) from project evaluation to authorization.
  • Monitor daily work activities in ARM to determine all new business projects ready for Customer Agreement, contribution quote preparation.
  • Complete data entry into SAP to create and deliver customer agreements and installation quote documents.
  • Review and submit BCAs to the Sales Operations Supervisors for authorization.
  • Monitor daily non-commodity process in SAP to track signed customer agreement documents/contribution receipt.
  • Perform consistent customer outreach to resolve outstanding customer agreements to expedite job approvals.
  • Communicate with customers to answer questions pertaining to contribution cost analysis.
  • Work closely with BCA Managers & Supervisors to resolve issues regarding job design, installation routes, etc.
  • Identify and implement strategic process improvements to improve efficiency and help meet company value drivers.
  • Perform SME-related activities (research and development, testing, training, and roll-out activities) on all system and process upgrades that impact New Business/Growth.
  • Extract and manage data from Salesforce (CRM), ARM, SAP, and other systems to analyze new business projects and ensure a healthy pipeline.
  • Provide reports to internal Sales and Marketing management team on stalled BCA's, jobs awaiting authorization, permit status, orphaned WRs, and development of trends in the Washington Gas service territory.
  • Provide periodic reporting on sales and sales support performance relative to GCX Division targets.
  • Develop and communicate insights from analysis, including creation of data visualizations.
  • Work closely with Construction, Construction Support & Contractor Services to coordinate timely Meter Sets with customers.
  • Engage with Business Intelligence & Analytics to improve methods of project tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility new business, construction management, project management, or engineering/design required.
  • Demonstrated ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing, required.
  • Demonstrated customer service and/or sales skills to expedite job closing/authorization, preferred.
  • Proficiency operating computer information technology, software, and applications, including Microsoft Office, to calculate, analyze, share, retrieve, research, and present business information, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, ARM, Salesforce, PowerBI, and GIS systems, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, preferred.
