Job Title: Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist I or II

Job Summary:

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist I or II to join our team. As a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine to complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of moderate to high difficulty.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of moderate to high complexity.
  • Optimize protocols to provide better patient care, image quality, and patient experience.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Utilize AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANGAGE UP techniques when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.
  • Follow safety standards and conduct all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures.
  • Comply with job role, department, and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.
  • Identify LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contribute to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
  • Report near misses and inputs errors promptly into the appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
  • Ensure all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Assist with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enter charges at the time service is delivered.

Requirements:

  • Associates of Applied Science degree from an accredited program.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential.
  • 3+ years of experience for Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist II position.
  • American Heart Association (BLS) certification.
  • Any one of the following credentials: American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-AB), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-MSKS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-BR), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT), American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS).

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday evenings, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
