Job Summary

The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist I position is a key member of the patient care team, responsible for performing a variety of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including common and special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive work environment and collaborate with all members of the patient care team.
  • Guide and mentor Ultrasound Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Utilize verbal, nonverbal, and written communication to achieve mutual understanding and provide exceptional patient care.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Follow MRI safety policy and procedures and conduct all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and comply with job role, department, and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.
  • Participate in LEAN projects and WASTE walks, and contribute to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
  • Report near misses and input errors promptly into the appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Ensure all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Assist with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures and enter charges at the time service is delivered.
  • Use resources efficiently and do not waste supplies.
  • Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Ensure personal timecard is accurate and approve it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments.
  • Participate in departmental special projects, initiatives, or shared governance activities.
  • Seek opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development.
  • Foster a positive and constructive teaching environment.
Requirements
  • Associates of Applied Science degree.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • American Heart Association (BLS) certification.
  • One of the following credentials: American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-AB), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-MSKS), or American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-BR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN) certification.
Salary Range

Actual salary commensurate with experience or range if discussed and approved by hiring authority.
