Job Summary

The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist I position is a key member of the patient care team, responsible for performing routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures with moderate complexity. This role requires collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care and adhere to established ultrasound exam standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive work environment and collaborate with all members of the patient care team.
  • Guide and mentor Ultrasound Technologist I and students to build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Utilize verbal, nonverbal, and written communication to achieve mutual understanding and report pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive manner.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including common and special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity, and optimize protocols to provide better patient care, image quality, and patient experience.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Follow MRI safety policy and procedures and conduct all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and comply with job role, department, and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.
  • Participate in LEAN projects and WASTE walks, and contribute to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
  • Report near misses and input errors promptly into the hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Ensure all imaging equipment has had quality control performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Assist with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures and enter charges at the time service is delivered.
  • Use resources efficiently and self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
Requirements
  • Associates of Applied Science degree.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • American Heart Association (BLS) certification.
  • Any one of the following credentials: American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-AB), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-MSKS), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-BR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN) certification.
