Job Title: Employee Engagement Specialist

The University of Virginia's Office of University Communications seeks a highly skilled Employee Engagement Specialist to develop and implement programs that foster a positive work environment and enhance employee satisfaction.

Job Summary:

This role involves collaborating with team members across the department to advance our commitment to fostering a meaningful staff culture, recognizing and applauding the accomplishments of our team members, and continuously reflecting on our personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies based on industry best practices and employee feedback.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues to ensure collaboration and alignment on engagement efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Employee Engagement Council to plan and coordinate events and activities that foster a sense of community and camaraderie among employees.
  • Formalize employee recognition programs to acknowledge and reward excellence, contributions, and achievements within the organization.
  • Support onboarding processes by partnering with hiring managers and administrative team to ensure new employees are properly welcomed and quickly immersed in department culture and processes.
  • Generate reports and presentations summarizing progress on engagement initiatives and overall success metrics.
Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years relevant professional experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee satisfaction.
  • Keen interest in employee engagement, team building, and communications field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with survey tools is preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range:

$58,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience.
