  • Prepare and serve food items and meals as required.
  • Maintain appropriate food temperatures and complete necessary documentation.
  • Label, cover, and date food items in accordance with policy.
  • Utilize leftovers effectively.
  • Operate kitchen equipment properly.
  • Assist in training new or less experienced staff.
  • Support stocking efforts using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods.
  • Help maintain nutrition areas throughout the facility and complete related forms.
  • Perform all dietary functions according to established policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill various roles within the food service department as scheduled.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare for catering events or assist as needed.
  • Monitor dishwashing processes for cleanliness and temperature compliance.
  • Communicate menu options to patients and complete necessary documentation.
  • Utilize AIDET principles when interacting with patients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of therapeutic diets and food/drug interactions.
  • Familiarity with cooking and serving methods, sanitation principles, and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks amid frequent interruptions.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Age-Related Competencies: Demonstrates the essential knowledge and skills necessary to address age-specific patient needs relevant to this role.

Information Management: Maintains confidentiality and security of all information and data pertinent to the position.

Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Fully cooperates in all risk management, quality management, and safety initiatives and investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • License/Certification: Food Handlers Certificate from NMED required or to be obtained within 30 days.

Environmental Conditions: This role involves daily patient interaction, which may include exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.
