Role Overview

The Director of Operations serves as the second-in-command within the Devereux California operations, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the behavioral health sector. Ideal candidates will have experience with California Regional Centers, a background in Developmental Disability Services, or relevant behavioral health/social services experience. A solid grasp of federal and state regulations and funding mechanisms is essential. This role encompasses the overall supervision and management of Devereux's programs, necessitating prior experience in a similar leadership capacity. Candidates should possess strong decision-making abilities, financial acumen, and exceptional organizational and communication skills. A key responsibility will be to develop new initiatives to broaden Devereux's service offerings within the California community. The successful candidate will exemplify Servant Leadership, fostering an environment conducive to program development and meeting the needs of clients, families, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective delivery of the Center's daily programs and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local external agencies.

  • Lead the development of new programs and service lines.
  • Understand the financial frameworks of services to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all program participants.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a senior management role, ideally as a Director of Operations or similar position in a behavioral health setting.
  • A Master's Degree in Health Care, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Experience at the Director level with Regional Centers or state regulatory agencies is essential.
  • Strong administrative, programmatic, and operational experience in community-based treatment settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of the importance of workplace diversity.
  • Highly independent with the ability to make informed decisions beyond standard procedures.

Reporting Structure and Benefits

The Director of Operations will manage three Program Directors, oversee a staff of 170, and report directly to the Executive Director. The role may require up to 25% travel for service delivery and training purposes. A competitive compensation package, including benefits, is offered.
