Job Title: Family Support Liaison

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest is a non-profit organization dedicated to building stronger communities through collaborative partnerships and family support services. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Liaison to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Family Support Liaison will play a vital role in increasing family protective factors through parenting activities and case management. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, this individual will provide case management, teaching, data entry, and coordination skills to support families and ensure high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Provide families with case management and support to increase their protective factors. This includes screening and interviewing potential clients, developing action plans and goals with families, and connecting them with resources for positive parenting practices, social emotional wellbeing, housing stability, food security, and informal family support.
  • Parent Educator/Preschool Teacher: Facilitate and support the implementation of parenting activities designed to increase parental knowledge of child development, positive parenting practices, community resources, personal well-being, and informal support systems.
  • Data Entry: Collect and maintain secure case files in accordance with documentation standards and requirements. Document outcomes and required family-level data in the Family Resource Center data tracking system to meet funder and LSS-SW administration outcome reporting.
  • Program Coordination: Present and role model a professional attitude, greet families upon arrival, respect cultural and ethnic differences, and plan and implement monthly center-based parenting activities and parent education.
  • Outreach/Community Collaboration: Participate in the development and implementation of the Regional Outreach Plan, establish and maintain relationships with community agencies and stakeholders, and attend community meetings and events to share information about the LSS-SW FRC program.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in education, social services, behavioral health, or a closely related field and two years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a team, including collaboration, cross-training, and mutual assistance.
  • Experience and comfort working with young children birth to 12.
  • Knowledge of human service systems and resources.
  • Current CPR, First Aid certification, and proof of freedom from TB.
  • Clear a criminal background and motor vehicle screening, with a clear driving record for at least 39 months.
  • Clear the Department of Economic Security, Central Registry Background Check.
  • Very good understanding of computer hardware and software.
  • Good time management ability and ability to work independently.
  • Skills in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, listen, and perceive need, working with people from diverse backgrounds non-judgmentally.
  • Ability to effectively present and represent LSS-SW and the program's needs to religious and community groups, as well as others in the social services community.
Work Environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics of this job are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods, use hands to hold objects and operate office equipment, listen and communicate effectively, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment varies with the activity level of the facility. The employee must be willing to drive to client's home and able to orientate and navigate well within the program's boundary. Maintain valid AZ Driver License, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation. Ability to work within the mission of LSS-SW.
