Job Summary:

As a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Tech at PSN Affiliates, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory testing. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing and reviewing test results, identifying specimen integrity issues, and taking corrective action when necessary. You will work closely with the laboratory team to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize technical skills and abilities to accurately handle and process specimens.

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen processing, ensuring proper tube identification, transport media, and storage temperature for each test type.

• Determine specimen acceptability, consulting with supervisors or pathologists as needed, and take appropriate action when necessary.

• Utilize job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality and accuracy in work.

• Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and training initiatives to stay up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.

• Accurately enter all required information into the laboratory information system, recognizing and addressing any alerts or flags as needed.

• Recognize personal limitations and seek guidance from supervisors or managers when necessary.

Requirements:

• MT: Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent, or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science with 1 additional year of Medical Technology training.

• MLT: Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology.

• Certification in Clinical Laboratory Science by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.

• Minimum 1 year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in a laboratory performing high complexity testing.

• Preferred 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within specialty.
