Summary of Role

This role is based at our Malta, NY Fab 8 site, a 300mm leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility.

As a Maintenance Technician intern, you will work in partnership with production team members and area engineers to monitor, sustain, and improve the equipment and/or processes in the assigned area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring equipment performance and scheduling preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets
  • Using mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues
  • Communicating updates on equipment and area status to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer
Essential Responsibilities

Performing preventive maintenance activities on state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor equipment by following detailed instructions and procedures

Working with various hand tools and measurement devices

Reacting to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment

Reviewing Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and reacting to Out of Control conditions, including defect troubleshooting

Performing visual inspections (quality check)

Recovering from process and tool interruptions

Completing all required reporting and documentation

Understanding and following all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements

Actively participating in continuous improvement processes, learning, and skills development

Working as a strong team member, able to collaborate with a global team

Performing measurements to characterize the chemical, physical, and biological properties of materials

Processing wafers using defined procedures

Using standard software applications (MS Office) and specific programs (Xsite, SiView, SPACE, etc.) to create reports and document procedures

Other Responsibilities

Performing all activities in a safe and responsible manner and supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience: Enrolled in a 2-Year Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Technology, Automotive, Industrial, HVAC, Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation, or a related discipline, with the first year of the degree nearly completed

Strong academic standing

Able to sit or stand for an extended period of time

Individuals must be well-versed in all Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Language Fluency

English (Written & Verbal)

Ability to work 12-hour shifts

Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements

Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (any object greater than 50lbs requires a two-person lift)

Performing semi-skilled and unskilled labor duties related to maintenance and repair of semiconductor equipment using hand tools
