Physical Therapist

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating individuals with temporary or long-term physical disabilities to relieve pain, restore function, and promote healing. This involves applying the therapeutic properties of exercise and using various modalities such as heat, cryotherapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients to determine the extent of their physical disabilities and develops a plan of care to address their needs.
- Performs tests to determine problem areas related to the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.
- Documents normal and abnormal findings and related history.
- Collaborates with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries.
- Plans and implements safe and comprehensive treatment programs to address functional limitations.
- Educates patients and their families in current functional status and provides documentation accordingly.
- Speaks positively about the system, physicians, community, and staff.
- Utilizes safe patient handling equipment when necessary.
- Instructs patients and their families in the care and use of wheelchairs, assistive devices, prosthetics, braces, and orthotics when appropriate.
- Maintains patient records in a timely fashion.
Requirements:
- Licensed to practice in Physical Therapy in the State of New York.
- 1 year of outpatient physical therapy experience preferred.
