FBI Personnel Security Specialist II

The Personnel Security Specialist plays a critical role in the FBI Security Program, responsible for reviewing investigation request documentation, processing e-QIP packets, and initiating background investigations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Responsibilities- Provides direct support to the administration of the FBI Security Program, participating in the direction of less complex security assessment investigations and rendering appropriate adjudication recommendations.
- Conducts, reviews, and analyzes various types of interviews, including internal and external to the organization, to discern potential security vulnerabilities and identify viable investigative leads.
- Supports the development and writing of Reports of Investigation that form the basis for creation of investigative and/or adjudication records.
- Collaborates with FBI Field Offices to initiate investigations, summarize data, and compose necessary correspondence outlining background information and security concerns.
- Ensures the security of program data and materials, processing security clearance and BI documentation in preparation for adjudication.
- Capable of obtaining a Top Secret security clearance and SCI access, including a requirement to pass a security polygraph exam.
- Two years of experience in the personnel security investigative or investigative analyst field.
- Experience conducting and interpreting database checks and credit reports.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software applications and use of Internet for research and open source checks.
- Knowledge of and experience with applicable commercial and Federal Government database systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of Federal Investigative Standards (FISs), Security Executive Agent Directives (SEADs), Executive Orders (EOs), and U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (US CFR).
