Research Engineer I

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Engineer I to join our team at Saint-Gobain. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for supporting investigations associated with Abrasive R&D projects in areas of grinding and surface finishing.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct hands-on testing and product performance analysis to support new product development projects.
- Develop and implement robust product testing procedures, including designing and deploying equipment, tooling, fixtures, methodologies, and data management systems.
- Collaborate with senior team members and worldwide R&D and business teams to conduct research in grinding technology and abrasive processing.
- Analyze experimental data and develop methods to enrich data interpretation and synthesis in areas related to grinding and surface finishing.
- Develop hands-on expertise in the measurement and analysis of grinding applications, including participating in projects to create and evaluate new process measurement systems and techniques.
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or other related disciplines.
- Familiarity with common machining operations and basic machine usage.
- Experience in grinding/machining applications is preferred.
- Entry-level experience working with abrasive products, grinding, machining, lapping, or polishing of engineering material is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of CNC (or robotic) programming & operation is preferred.
