About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team at Bolivar Medical Center. As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping our patients achieve optimal physical function and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs to help patients recover from injuries or illnesses.
  • Provide educational information to patients on injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy.
  • Supervise physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.
  • Interact professionally with patients and families, treating them with respect and dignity.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Perform assessments on patients to determine the best course of treatment.
  • Supervise and delegate care provided by certified patient therapy assistants, therapy technicians, therapy aides, students, and other support personnel.
  • Administer treatment involving the application of physical agent modalities using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
  • Perform therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications.
  • Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning, including family involvement as appropriate.
  • Establish a plan of care that is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to their capabilities and desires.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Physical Therapy, required.
  • Current Mississippi Physical Therapy License.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific area of work.
  • Able to maintain a high awareness of patient satisfaction and teamwork.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to performing well under pressure in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must be flexible, able to work as needed for appropriate departmental coverage.
  • Basic computer knowledge; become proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates proficient time management skills.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security. Additional languages preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities.
