Key Responsibilities:
  • Review new project documentation to comprehend project systems, essential scope elements, and critical factors influencing awards.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, proposals, and other relevant documents to formulate time, cost, labor, and material estimates for projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for materials and labor to determine project values.
  • Prepare, distribute, and oversee requests for quotes to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Foster relationships to grasp client, designer, and subcontractor needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to complete design reviews, meet contract obligations, manage project costs within estimates, and satisfy customer requirements.
  • Price project scopes and utilize local knowledge to create competitive proposals for negotiations.
  • Draft scopes of work including qualifications, assumptions, and exclusions for estimates.
  • Analyze historical and buyout costs from the construction team to refine and enhance pricing model accuracy.
  • Prepare cost comparisons with various subcontractors and suppliers for cost evaluation.
  • Organize and conduct bid review meetings with stakeholders before finalizing and submitting bids.
  • Develop and provide a comprehensive hand-off package to construction teams.
  • Participate in pre-construction strategy meetings regarding project approaches and estimates.
  • Assist in crafting responses to RFPs and RFQs for clients.
  • Attend site walkthroughs to familiarize with plans, elevations, and site conditions.
  • Research and onboard new subcontractors.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
  • At least 3 years of estimating experience in commercial electrical or civil construction.
  • Basic understanding of commercial solar projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Bluebeam software.
  • Ability to interpret and understand civil and electrical drawings.
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines while managing and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • High attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to generate RFIs throughout the bidding process.
  • Confidence to engage in discussions with clients during bid and scope reviews.
  • Willingness and means to attend site visits to support the bidding process.
