Job Summary

As an Electrical Estimator with Professional Electrical Contractors of CT, Inc., you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing proposal specifications, calculating takeoffs, and identifying qualified suppliers and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents.
  • Prepare detailed estimates by calculating takeoffs and entering data into computer estimating systems.
  • Request quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, and review them for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify and solicit quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary for bid packages, including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies.
  • Provide detailed reviews of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for estimated bid packages.
  • Attend project turnover meetings and explain estimates, scope of work, quotes, and offer aspects for successful project transition.
  • Responsible for timely completion of client-required documents.
  • Draft scope letters, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects, preferably in Retail, Academic, Healthcare, Institutional.
  • Experience in Accubid software is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Skilled in using a computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, proactive involvement, and an effective team player at all levels of the company.
