As a Planner/Buyer, you will oversee the planning and management of inventory and repair routing for customer materials at the business unit level. This includes managing stores exchange pools and inventory at service centers. You will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, supplies, and services within set quality, quantity, and pricing guidelines from various suppliers. Your role will involve obtaining quotes and negotiating delivery terms while maintaining the integrity of related data and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute inventory control tasks by aligning company objectives (cost, quality, delivery), establishing and maintaining ABC analysis of inventory, managing customer consignment parts, disposing of excess or obsolete inventory, rescheduling orders as needed, and transferring inventory between service center locations when required.
  • Focus on subcontract routing for repairs, obtaining quotes, and expediting customer parts to various vendors.
  • Perform additional duties beyond typical Material Specialist tasks, including processing stock credits and transferring materials to other business units through the Over The Counter (OTC) sales process.
  • Assist in managing internal rework orders by initiating, tracking, posting, and stock crediting internal parts to support our used serviceable material initiatives.
  • Collaborate with service centers to set targets and plan purchases of assigned inventory based on forecasts and replacement factors.
  • Gather quotations from vendors to ensure favorable quality, pricing, and delivery terms; research new products and suppliers; provide data to technical staff to assist in purchasing decisions; expedite orders for timely delivery.
  • Ensure data integrity of inventory systems by creating and updating item master files, analyzing engineering control changes, monitoring overdue purchase orders, and researching inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinate the return of damaged goods, arranging for replacements or credits, and documenting all transactions.
  • Develop new, used, and subcontract supplier/vendor relationships by sourcing new vendors, negotiating pricing and delivery terms, and educating suppliers on material policies.
  • Review and recommend updates to company instructions and material policies.
  • Train and supervise other Planner/Buyers.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics including inventory levels, shortages, opportunity costs, inventory turnover, average costs by supplier, fill rates, and supplier compliance.
  • Collaborate with Logistics to maximize freight savings and communicate priority shipments of incoming materials.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and promptly report any unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Engage in additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong skills in planning, organization, analysis, negotiation, interpersonal relations, decision-making, and both oral and written communication.
  • Understanding of repair management processes and inventory control systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Oracle is a plus.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, purchasing, and production management systems is beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent experience in Supply Chain roles is preferred.
  • Experience in an inventory or FAA Repair Station environment is desirable.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.
