Job Description: Compliance Analyst

The Compliance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the regulatory and compliance functions of our company. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, maintaining authority to do business in all jurisdictions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory filing deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain authority to do business in all states and assist in necessary filings.
  • Research and Analysis: Monitor for legal, regulatory, and legislative changes, using legal databases, trade organization websites, state department of insurance websites, and other research tools available.
  • Implementation and Communication: Assist in the implementation of any practices, procedures, or changes made necessary by the findings of such research and effectively communicate regulatory guidance to Company staff.
  • Data Management: Coordinate creation of data extracts and responses to various state data calls.
  • Scheduling and Reporting: Maintain a schedule and ensure that reports and eligibility filings are made on a timely basis to state insurance departments on an annual or more frequent basis.
  • File Management: Maintain well-organized electronic files.
  • Tax Allocation: Coordinate collection and reporting of surplus lines tax allocation information from brokers.
  • Brokerage Operations: Research and coordinate delivery of brokerage operations compliance procedures.
  • Consumer Complaints: Respond to DOI complaints and inquiries, as well as other compliance-related consumer complaints.
  • Form and Endorsement Compliance: Ensure that the content, design, and implementation of property casualty forms and endorsements meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as solid analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and focus on accuracy, intellectual curiosity, organizational skills, proofreading, grammar and composition skills, research skills.
  • Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact, communicate, and work collaboratively in a professional manner with various people at all levels within the organization and with regulators at insurance departments.
  • Deadline Management: Ability to appreciate the importance of tracking and meeting deadlines.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required, some insurance industry coursework and/or desire for continued professional development. Minimum 4 years' experience in property and casualty insurance industry, preferably in legal or compliance operations. Surplus lines experience desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook.
