About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Lead Transportation Construction Inspector. As a key member of our infrastructure inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of consultants to ensure that contractors build high-quality construction projects.
  • Implement and maintain effective Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans.
  • Communicate with subordinates to ensure that plans, specifications, standards, and quality control plans are adhered to.
  • Assign tasks to subordinates to ensure that contractor activities are observed and examined.
  • Manage and control overtime to meet district and project-specific budgets.
  • Promote a partnering atmosphere by maintaining open and honest communications with contractors.
  • Conduct training and safety meetings.
  • Provide support to the Department Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Assist in the inspection of materials and workmanship for compliance with contract requirements and established standards.
  • Review inspector activities during work operations to ensure effectiveness.
  • Review, as required, Payment Sheets and work sheets for inclusion of pertinent information and payments.
  • Participate in daily huddles with field staff.
Requirements
  • One (1) year minimum experience as a Transportation Construction Manager or equivalent experience.
  • ACI/PENNDOT and NECEPT Field Technician Certification.
  • Or Ten (10) years of Transportation Construction Inspection Supervision/Management experience and ACI/PENNDOT and NECEPT Field Technician Certification.
  • Or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, and ACI/PENNDOT and NECEPT Field Technician Certification.
  • Or Twenty (20) years of Transportation Construction Inspection Supervision/Management experience acceptable to the Department and a High School Diploma.
  • NICET Level IV Certification may be substituted for ACI/PENNDOT and NECEPT Field Technician Certification.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for four (4) years of experience.
  • An active Professional Engineer's License may be substituted for four (4) years of experience and all NICET Levels.
