We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Hospital Bed Board Coordinator. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's bed management system.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and manage bed availability throughout the hospital, ensuring that patients are admitted and discharged in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with ER staff, ED care managers, house supervisors, environmental services, and inpatient charge nurses to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Review medical admit orders for accuracy and completeness, and oversee bed availability for admits, transfers, and discharges.
- Conduct regular walking rounds with inpatient charge nurses to establish bed status and identify potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including daily hospital census reconciliations and bed delay notifications.
- Collaborate with physicians, department directors, and staff members to communicate patient needs and facility requirements.
- Operate the hospital's electronic bed board with efficiency and accuracy.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous experience in an acute care setting or related healthcare setting preferred.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days of start date.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to prioritize critical admits and in-house transfers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
