Position Overview

The Freight Dispatch Specialist plays a crucial role in orchestrating and overseeing customer requests, aiming to fulfill and surpass client expectations while meticulously monitoring various shipment collections until their final destinations. The capacity to thrive in a dynamic and demanding environment is essential. This role requires a collaborative individual who is focused on customer service and possesses a comprehensive understanding of systems and vendor capabilities. This position is vital for the coordination of transportation and operations involving contractors, company drivers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate driver assignments for domestic freight pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Ensure adherence to DOT regulations and established internal protocols.
  • Prioritize urgent cargo shipments.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to meet or exceed customer service expectations.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, and company drivers.
  • Engage directly with clients for the receipt and processing of transportation requests.
  • Utilize various transportation management software to facilitate the movement, planning, and scheduling of materials.
  • Manage dispatch operations with contractors, company drivers, and partner carriers.
  • Track and monitor shipments from pick-up to delivery, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to clients.
  • Resolve issues effectively by identifying problems, applying critical thinking to determine the best solutions, and implementing them.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and system documentation.
  • Communicate efficiently with customers, contractors, company drivers, partner carriers, and team members.
  • Promote the brand effectively.
  • Assist with the initiation of new accounts.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all domestic and international shipping regulations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, customer service, or a related field.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in typing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong command of English (reading, writing, and verbal communication).
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to adapt and work within a team environment.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
  • Commitment to meeting obligations and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CDL A or B license.
  • Two years of prior logistics experience.
  • Experience with local pick-up and delivery operations.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and communicate verbally. The employee will utilize computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision.

Work Environment

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
