  • Provide technical direction and leadership to navigation subject matter experts on the use of data science techniques for answering critical questions and solving technical challenges with navigation systems.
  • Develop models and simulations to describe data, predict events, and prescribe a course of action that directly reflect stakeholder's needs.
  • Acquire domain knowledge in the field of maritime navigation and use that insight to build forward-thinking analytical solutions to test and evaluate prototype and operational navigation systems.
  • Use internal funding opportunities to shape the direction of future research.
  • Circulate knowledge by articulating ideas clearly through effective visualizations, papers, and presentations to technical staff, management, and government decision makers.
Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in technical leadership or project management from concept development through execution and close out.
  • Experience developing AI/ML algorithms and/or translating mathematical concepts using efficient and well-documented code.
  • Strong proficiency in developing analytical pipelines, data science applications and dashboard tools, and statistical and machine learning methodologies for specific quantitative goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate complex technical issues for a wide range of audiences.
  • Interest in learning about maritime navigation systems.
  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Experience with using version control software, such as Git.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
