Job Title: Senior Autonomous Systems Guidance and Control Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Autonomous Systems Guidance and Control Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a senior member of our team, you will have the opportunity to lead the development of agile and robust guidance and control solutions for our nation's most critical defense and security challenges.

About the Role

As a Senior Autonomous Systems Guidance and Control Engineer, you will be responsible for applying your expertise in guidance and control to solve complex technical problems facing a diverse set of novel autonomous vehicle systems in development. You will steer the research and design of innovative control and guidance algorithms, using deep knowledge and understanding of current theory.

You will evaluate the performance of complex systems by using and modifying high-fidelity simulations. You will lead and mentor teams of guidance, navigation, and control engineers, working together to analyze, design, and implement control solutions to an array of weapon systems.

You will collaborate with other disciplines to identify and solve the most demanding problems facing your programs. You will interact directly with sponsors to convey important ideas, present data, and help shape control strategy.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or another related technical field. You must have at least ten years of experience in guidance or controls and its application to autonomous systems.

You must have a strong sense of initiative, creativity, and a passion for learning. You must be able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.

Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
