Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment to generate high-quality images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role necessitates a collaborative spirit and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and medical professionals. The candidate must also manage sensitive and confidential situations with discretion and professionalism.

Flexibility to travel between multiple MRI clinics as required by operational needs is essential.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the MRI Imaging Specialist include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting and completing all MRI and radiography examinations in accordance with clinic protocols.
  • Pre-screening patients with the assistance of the MRI receptionist and ensuring thorough patient evaluations prior to procedures.
  • Delivering compassionate and professional patient care while interacting with patients and team members.
  • Consulting with referring providers regarding MRI-related inquiries.
  • Addressing imaging concerns directly with relevant parties.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and exercising integrity in handling sensitive information.
  • Recognizing and appropriately responding to emergency situations.
  • Completing all necessary documentation within the Radiology Information System (RICS) and Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) for patient care.
  • Performing quality control checks on MRI and radiography equipment and reporting any issues to management.
  • Prioritizing tasks efficiently and providing coverage for absent colleagues as needed.
  • Maintaining certification in basic life support as per American Heart Association standards.
  • Implementing safety measures related to radiation and magnetic resonance imaging at all times.
  • Executing additional responsibilities as assigned by the Clinic Manager to ensure optimal clinic operations.
  • Adhering to all policies introduced during onboarding and outlined in the Associate Handbook.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MR or certified through ARMRIT.
  • Possession of a current Washington State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience with musculoskeletal MRI examinations is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a physician office or ambulatory MRI department is preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating SIGNA Explorer 1.5T version 25.1 MRI Scanner.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work may be conducted in both office and clinical settings. The role requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. Regular tasks include talking, hearing, sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, and stretching. Proficiency in using a telephone and computer is necessary, along with manual dexterity for keyboard use. Occasionally, the role may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds and working under stress or irregular hours.
