Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Sales Representative III to join our Crop Protection team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for growing the market share of our crop protection and seed business in the Southwest North Dakota region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned sales targets with our crop protection and seed products in coordination with our commercial team.
  • Develop and implement business plans with our dealers and retailers, manage forecasting, inventory management, and product line demand issues.
  • Serve as a key business consultant to our retailers and large growers, effectively selling the value of our crop science products.
  • Demonstrate proof of product performance against the competition by being a champion of our brands and product/technical/agronomic knowledge.
  • Collaborate with our sales team, customer business advisors, and agronomists to maximize services, information, and sales to preferred growers and key customer accounts.
  • Manage inventory concerns to ensure success in meeting business objectives.
  • Gather, assimilate, and analyze market and competitive information to make key decisions to drive the business.
  • Follow set strategies for achieving long and short business plans for key accounts and assigned area.
  • Effectively manage expenses, discretionary dollars, and program payments per Bayer policy.
  • Show initiative in expanding selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge.
  • Ensure achievement of program execution and program fulfillment, including national/regional marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with our sales team to manage the relationship with top growers and retailers.
  • Act as a business expert for top growers and retailers, planning for customer business needs.
  • Act as a mentor to junior sales team members as requested by leadership.
  • Manage area claims per Bayer policy and process through effective problem solving, execution, administration, and resource management.
  • Travel approximately 60% of the time, primarily day travel in the assigned geography.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written).
  • Demonstrated initiative, assertiveness, and ability to drive results.
  • Strong business acumen, account planning, influencing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Financial, time, and territory management proficiency.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a rapid-paced and matrixed environment.
  • Strong user-level computer and presentation skills (proficiencies in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated digital acumen and ability to analyze data to influence decisions.
  • Travel and live/work in a rural environment.
  • Proven interest in supporting collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to pass a driving record background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Six (6+) years of experience in sales, marketing, account management, or agriculture.
  • Demonstrated product, portfolio, and agronomic knowledge.
