Position Title: Project Engineer
Overall Responsibility:
The Project Engineer is tasked with ensuring the precision and adherence of build-to-print electro-mechanical assemblies, serving as the primary technical liaison between ECM - Electri-Cord Mfg and its manufacturing partners.
This role encompasses the maintenance and revision of engineering documentation, supporting compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements, and assisting in technically challenging project and quoting activities. The position collaborates with suppliers to address technical challenges, investigate manufacturing solutions, and aid in component sourcing.
Occasional travel may be necessary to provide on-site technical assistance and foster effective communication among the company, suppliers, and customers.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Essential Position Functions:
Product Design and Documentation:
- Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for electro-mechanical assemblies; from quoting stage through product End-of-Life (EOL).
- Ensure documentation accuracy between suppliers, ECM, and customers; adherence to customer specifications and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and authorize design modifications, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Maintain and update engineering documents and data; review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), New Product Introductions (NPIs), and Corrective Actions (CAs) along with other related processes.
Technical Support and Coordination:
- Act as a technical liaison between ECM and manufacturing partners.
- Assist manufacturing partners with technical inquiries and provide necessary information.
- Support the resolution of technical issues and the development of solutions for customers.
- Identify alternative materials to address obsolescence and support cost-saving initiatives.
Supplier Collaboration and Management:
- Engage with suppliers to explore and implement effective manufacturing solutions.
- Facilitate communication and technical discussions between ECM and manufacturing partners.
- Support internal teams in supplier approval processes and the management of the Approved Vendors List (AVL).
Project Support Activities:
- Report and update activities while creating timelines for various projects based on assigned actions.
- Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and testing challenges.
- Assist with failure analysis, root cause determination, and the implementation of corrective actions regarding product failures or quality-related issues.
- Support technically demanding quoting or project activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing or a related domain.
- Strong knowledge of power cords, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electrical/electronic components.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality control processes.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, wire diagrams, and prints.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with ACAD Electrical and 3D CAD tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in product design.
- Background in project management.
- Familiarity with PCBA and related product manufacturing and material requirements.
- Knowledge of MS Project.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Vietnamese is a plus.
