Academic Advisor I/II Position

The University of Louisville is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor I/II to join our Exploratory & Transition Advising team. As a key member of our Student Success Center, you will provide holistic, individualized assistance to students in their major and career decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet individually with students and apply various advising and coaching techniques to assist students in their academic, personal, and career development.
- Assist students through major exploration, degree planning, registration, and re-enrollment processes as well as navigating academic issues.
- Monitor student progress and provide proactive, sustained, and developmentally appropriate coaching to targeted populations.
- Instruct, under supervision, the first-year orientation course.
- Partner with the Student Success Center team and campus partners in offering programs and services designed to improve student persistence.
- Utilize advising and student records software to maintain accurate and detailed advising notes, track students, and schedule advising appointments.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and integrate new or improved knowledge into advising practice.
- Promote student success for all within UofL's diverse student population by providing student-centered, highly engaged student contact while working collaboratively with colleagues across campus.
Requirements:
- Ability to build rapport and sustain relationships with students.
- Experience and comfort working with diverse student populations, including but not limited to first generation students, low-income students, adult learners, and underrepresented students.
- High level of interpersonal communication, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with technology related to word processing and student information systems.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply student development theory.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high student contact environment.
