Nursing Educator and Infection Prevention Specialist

Job Description: Nursing Educator and Infection Prevention SpecialistWe offer a competitive salary of $80,000 per year, plus benefits, including a $10,000 Sign-on Bonus, paid out over 1 year, and $1,000 Referral Bonuses, unlimited opportunities.
This role combines two critical functions: Nursing Education and Infection Prevention. As a Staff Development Coordinator, you will design, plan, and provide educational programs on all shifts and for all departments. You will participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance. You will also provide general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
As an Infection Prevention nurse, you will monitor healthcare-associated infections, assess infection prevention problems, and make recommendations for corrective action. You will initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures, conduct outbreak investigations, and initiate control measures. You will report communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
Responsibilities:- Design, plan, and provide educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
- Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
- Provide general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
- Plan and provide a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
- Ensure Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participate in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
- Provide on-site clinicals for STNA classes (Train the trainer certification).
- Monitor healthcare-associated infections.
- Assess infection prevention problems and make recommendations for corrective action.
- Initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct outbreak investigations and initiate control measures.
- Report communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
- Provides educational offerings for orientation and ongoing inservices.
- Consults with department heads and physicians as needed to improve care.
- Initiate follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases.
- 1-3 years of experience in long-term care setting preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state.
- CPR certification.
